Thesis Instructions at Karelia University of Applied Sciences : Procedure

The following instructions describe the stages of the thesis process at Karelia University of Applied Sciences, from the choice of the topic to the publications of the thesis. The related forms and templates are also enclosed.

Procedure

The order of progression 

  1. Presenting the finished work at a thesis seminar  
  2. Handing in the final version of the thesis for the Turnitin check  
  3. Maturity test
  4. Sending the feedback survey fo the commissioner
  5. The Turnitin process and final thesis assessment 
  6. The publishing of the assessed work in the Open Repository Theseus  

Once the supervisor has gone over the Turnitin report and evaluates it as accepted, the assessment of the thesis begins. If the Turnitin report indicates that there are parts in the thesis that should be modified, you will be given an opportunity and instructions to do so. The corrected version that you hand in to the thesis supervisor and inspector is the one that will be assessed.

Once the assessment is finished, you will receive a notification of it, as well as a permission to store the accepted thesis in the national Open Repository Theseus. You are responsible for the publishing. Upon receiving the graduation notice, the student services will check that the work has been published.  

If you choose not to publish your work in Theseus, send a copy of your thesis in PDF format to opinnayte(at)karelia.fi, and submit a printed and bound version to Karelia Student Services.
