Accessibility - Karelia UAS Library

Celia and Bookshare

Saavutettavuuskirjasto Celian logo

The national library for accessible literature and publishing in Finland is Celia. Celia services are for persons with print disabilities.

Celia produces and distributes literature in accessible formats, such as talking books and braille books, together with public libraries and publishers. In addition to fiction and non-fiction, Celia also produces and distributes textbooks in accessible formats to all educational levels. Celia’s books are available online as well as on CDs and a variety of physical media.

Celia’s aim is to work towards equality for persons with print disabilities, in terms of access to literature and information.

As Karelia UAS student:

If you have a print-disability and need accessible media, please contact first Student Welfare Officers. After that you can make an appointment with library staff to register for Celia’s services (appointment form is in Finnish, but you can get service in English). You can also contact them by phone, e-mail, or using WhatsApp. Their contact information is shown on Student Welfare Officers (Pakki) page.
